Frequently asked questions

Q.01What plan do I need?
If you don't have the staff to support a complex implementation and your IT maturity is not yet at a high level, we suggest starting from the Growing plan rather than trying to consider everything at once, then upgrading according to your needs. The Growing plan unburdens you from the volume of production management and gives you 100% production tracking, management & control.
Q.02What is a Terminal?
A terminal is any device used inside production: a tablet, mobile phone or PC. Each terminal is assigned to a specific production phase (a workstation), where operators log in with their own account to interact with your production orders, track time, scan jobs and add comments or photos. Terminals are also what the platform uses to calculate available time per workstation and across the whole floor. Your plan is sized by the total number of terminals, with unlimited users and workstations included.
Q.03Can I have a demo?

Yes, you can. Start your 30-day free trial by clicking here.

Q.04Can I upgrade only for 1 terminal?
No, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan based on the total number of terminals. Switching between plans is very easy, just like the fluctuation of terminals.
Q.05Can I switch between plans?
Yes, you can switch between plans any time you want. Keep in mind that any special algorithm offered in the Scaling plan, including the advanced Reporting and Machine Learning algorithms, runs only during the active Scaling plan period.
Q.06Do I need to download Epifor to my PC?
No, Epifor is a cloud-based MES platform and everything runs in the cloud. If you need extra customizations or a private-server solution, contact us.
Q.07What’s the difference between a User and an Operator?
An Operator is a shop floor role: they log into a terminal at a single workstation and work through the operator screen (seeing their planned jobs, tracking time, scanning and adding comments or photos). A User is an office/management role: they log into the platform to plan, schedule, report, configure and oversee production (planners, supervisors, managers, admins), with role-based permissions on the paid plans.
Q.08What are the pros of the VPN Stand-Alone Instance?
A dedicated, stand-alone instance with isolated resources, a secure VPN connection, auto-scaling, and 3 CPUs / 16GB RAM by default (scalable on demand), hosted in a data centre region near your HQ.
Q.09Which AI model are you using?
We choose the best model for your production, and the included free AI credits may vary month to month.
Q.10What is a Board?
A Board is a display screen placed on the shop floor that shows information rather than acting as a place where operators log in. Boards present images, drawings and live dashboards, such as factory and workstation overviews, so teams can see production status at a glance and react quickly. On the Scaling plan and above, Boards also include an AI Assistant. Boards count toward your total Production Terminals & Boards capacity, so a screen on the wall and a tablet at a workstation are both counted when sizing your plan.
